P_Watson

Rev Peter Watson

BA, HDE, LTh

Greek and Hebrew Reading

Rev Watson studied for a year at the Bible Institute before going on to complete a BA (majoring in History and Church History) and HDE (majoring in History and Hebrew) through UNISA. He received his LTh from Baptist Theological College. Rev Watson received a commission from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, into the Royal Artillery. Having been involved in farming and the military earlier on, Rev Watson has spent most of his life in teaching and the ministry.

His interest in History (particularly military history), is to study leadership under situations of stress - how people react. In Church History it is to find out what was really said and done, rather than what people like to believe was said and done. His interest in biblical Hebrew and Greek is to enable those who minister God's Word to be able to read it in the original languages. Rev Watson firmly believes that this makes a big difference to personal worship, teaching Christianity and helping Christians, especially in Bible studies.

Rev Watson and his wife Deanna had four children. Rare diseases took three of them away, each one suddenly, over a four year period, the eldest at the age of 15. The youngest child survived and is now an advocate. This tragedy contributed to a revival breaking out at the high school where he was teaching. Rev Watson testifies to how God wonderfully used the book of Job to get them through those traumatic times.

Dr RM Potgieter

Rev Dr Raymond Potgieter

BA & Sc LTh BTh   Hons MTh PhD

Post-graduate Studies

Raymond has a BA et S. Town and Regional Planning from the then Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE) now North West University. He completed a Dip.Th. at the Bible Institute of South Africa in 1979 followed by Hons. B.Th. (1985) through the University of South Africa (UNISA). He was ordained in 1982. His M.Th. dissertation in 1995 dealt with the particular apologetic methodology of Francis A. Schaeffer. During a sabbatical in 1998, while a visiting scholar at Redcliffe College in Gloucester, England he did some groundbreaking research in the relationship between science and Christian religion. This culminated in a Ph.D. thesis (PU for CHE) in 2002 that dealt particularly with the panentheistic methodology as applied by Keith Ward to cosmology and applied to a lesser or greater degree by a number of Christian scientists and theologians. Raymond’s thesis prepared some groundwork towards formulating a biblical cosmological model that deals specifically with the tension of the immanence and the transcendence of God.

Raymond was a senior lecturer in Biblical Studies at the Christian Reformed Theological Seminary 1999-2005 in Benoni and academic dean of the Wesleyan Evangelical Seminary 2003-2005. He has had four articles published and has written a commentary for non-profit purposes on the Gospel of Mark from an African Perpsective (some 250 pages). This commentary is translated into Xhosa and is being translated into more African languages by the Wesleyan seminary and a copy should be available on the revised website of the Wesleyan Evangelical Seminary.

Raymond is married to Michelle and they have two adult children and one grandchild.
