Company Manager turns Church Planter
Hebert Mahuni was born in 1982 in Harare, Zimbabwe, one of nine children. A clerical error gave Hebert his name, which was meant to be Herbert. His father was a road construction worker who moved around with the Ministry of Transport, giving Hebert exposure to different cultures and geographical places. Hebert gave his life to Christ when he was 12 years old and was baptised in the Ruya River.
Hebert graduated from high school in 2000. He holds a diploma in retail management and has studied Human Resources Management with the University of Zimbabwe. He was a company manager in Zimbabwe before relocating to RSA.
As he grew in the Lord he always had a strong conviction of God’s calling on his life, later confirmed when he was asked by leadership to start a church planting work in Cape Town (Khayelitsha), in partnership with others.
Hebert has been active in Every Home for Christ South Africa in Khayelitsha. He is also involved in door to door evangelism and discipleship training, and works with the Jesus Film project. Being a church planter at heart he’s assisted in planting four churches in the city and the province. He currently pastors Cornerstone Fellowship International, based in Khayelitsha, as well as leading an English multicultural service in Bellville—the Righteous People Church.
After graduation, Hebert intends to serve the Lord in discipleship, evangelism and teaching of the word of God, as he continues studies in the Honours degree programme with a focus on church planting.
Hebert is a 3rd year LTh student at the Bible Institute of South Africa. He is married to Abigail and they have three children.
