Welcome to the Bible Institute of South Africa
The Bible Institute of South Africa provides theological training which is Christ-centred, faithful to Scripture and practical for ministry. Founded in 1923, BISA has equipped over 2000 men and women for ministry and effective witness in the church and missions. BISA offers a wide selection of courses and programmes for full-time or part time study, including courses which are accredited and can be completed online. Campus life offers a wonderful opportunity for spiritual formation, fellowship and interaction with students from many different nationalities and backgrounds. The college is located in the fishing village of Kalk Bay in Cape Town and has stunning views over False Bay.
A Message from the Principal
Welcome, and thank you for visiting the Bible Institute of South Africa.
For over 100 years, BISA has been committed to training men and women for faithful and effective Christian ministry. We are grateful for this rich legacy and for the opportunity to continue equipping a new generation to serve Christ in South Africa and around the world. At BISA, our mission is simple and clear: “To Know Christ and to Make Him Known.” This vision shapes everything we do.

We are equally committed to preparing students to make Christ known. This involves more than gaining ministry skills or biblical knowledge; it is about cultivating a heart for the Gospel and a life that reflects Christ to a world in need of hope. Whether in the local church, the mission field, or the workplace, we seek to equip students to serve faithfully and proclaim Christ with clarity and compassion.
At BISA, we recognise that each person is uniquely gifted and called by God. We encourage our students to develop these gifts in a Christ-centred community marked by humility, integrity, holiness, and love. Together, we seek to honour the Lord in both our learning and our living.
If you are considering studying with us, we invite you to become part of this vibrant community. We trust that your time at BISA will be both spiritually enriching and academically formative, preparing you for a lifetime of service to Christ.
May the Lord guide you as you seek His will, and may His grace be evident in all that you do.

To Know Christ
We believe that knowing Christ goes far beyond academic study. While theological training is essential, true knowledge of Christ is relational, transformative, and rooted in a life of devotion and obedience. Our desire is to help students grow in a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ—one that shapes their character, convictions, and daily walk with Him.

Mission and Vision
Mission
We are a non-denominational, international, theological college committed to the evangelical faith of our confessing protestant reformational heritage.
We serve the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in equipping Christian men and women in Biblical truth and ministry in order to fulfil the Great Commission in Africa and throughout the world.
Vision
Our Vision is for the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to be proclaimed by our students, past and present in every Church, market place and society.
Our Ethos
Scripture is Our Authority
BISA believes that the Bible is the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God, complete in its revelation, final in its content and absolute in its authority.
Students study and practically engage with the Word of God and learn to handle and communicate it competently.

Spiritual Formation
Spiritual growth is encouraged alongside theological study. Students pause each day for chapel or fellowship group and a day is set aside each semester for quiet reflection on God’s Word and prayer. We aim to cultivate within our students a desire to obey God and to inspire hearts and minds with His Truth.

Practical for Ministry
We are committed to the development of practical skills for faithful effective ministry.
All students are required to be involved in a ministry in a local church throughout their studies. Every year each fellowship group goes for a week of ministry to put into practice what they have been learning.

"I find BI to be a community of humble, loving and caring students, together with their lecturers. I come back to BI whenever I can - God is at work there in practical ways".
